    Banana Flower Stir Fry
    Banana blossom has an exotic taste, it can be used to cook a variety of dishes. We can use it to make fritters, Kola urundai, usli and even a simple Stir Fry. Only difficulty is the cleaning of Banana Flower, but if cleaned right and saved for later use .It is the easiest ingredient to use in your cooking.     So this BM I selected the theme Stir Fries, so the next three days you will get to see some exotic Stir fries. Now let’s get started.

    Banana Blossom Stir Fry Recipe

    Step by step Method with pictures:
    1. In a Kadai/Pan add in oil, once it heats up add in Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Urad Dal and Chana Dal, let it splutter and then add in Curry Leaves and Green Chilli fry for a min and then add in the chopped onions. Sauté until glossy.
    2. Clean the Banana Flower and keep it ready, if not using immediately soak in butter milk (click here how to clean banana flower and then store it).Now add the cleaned and chopped Banana flower to the sautéed Onions. Mix everything well.
     

    3. Now add in Turmeric powder and Salt and continue cooking. Once it is fully cooked, add in the freshly grated coconut give a quick stir and then switch off the flame.

    Tastes best with Steamed Rice.

    Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

    Ingredients

    • Banana Flower
    • Onion – 1
    • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
    • Salt as needed
    • Grated Coconut – 2 tbsp
    • Green Chilli – 2

    To Temper:

    • Oil – 1 tbsp
    • Mustard Seeds -½ tsp
    • Cumin Seeds -½ tsp
    • Urad Dal - ½ tsp
    • Chana Dal – ½ tsp
    • Curry Leaves a spring

    Notes

    • Banana flower gets cooked easily so no need to add water.
    • Except cleaning the banana flower which is a messy job the stir fry is quite healthy and delicious.
