    Cabbage Chutney

    Chutneys play an integral part in Indian food .Say any breakfast we accomplish it with a Chutney .This Cabbage chutney is one among them .This recipe is given to me by me Colleague Hari Priya .She is From Andhra the place which is famous for its chutneys and Pickles.

    She once bought this chutney for lunch I tasted it and liked it so much .She then gave me the recipe .It is so simple and easy to prepare .So give a try !!!
    Cabbage chutney Recipe

    Prep Time: 10 mins| Cook time :15mins | Serves :2 |Author :Sharmila  
    Ingredients
    Cabbage – 1 cup
    Green Chilli – 2
    Tamarind – 1 goosebeery sized
    Salt as needed
    Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
    To Temper
    Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
    Urad dal – 1 tsp
    Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
    Oil – 2 tsp
    Dry Red Chilli – 2
    Curry Leaves a spring

    Method:

       1.      In a large vessel bring in water to boil, once it starts boiling add in Chopped Cabbage salt and turmeric cook till its done and strain out the cooked Cabbage.

    2.      Take a blender and add in the cooked Cabbage, Tamarind, Green chilli and Salt if required and blend it well to form a chutney consistency.

        3.   Start preparing the tadka by taking a pan add in oil once it starts healting add in the ingredients mentioned under the “To temper” table and our the tadka over the chutney .Tasty Cabbage chutney is now ready J
     
    Notes:
    • Adding Turmeric is purely optional you can skip it if you don’t prefer.
    • You can used Dry Red chilli in that case for a lovely colour.
    • Tastes good with Idli ,Dosa ,Uthapam or with Steamed Rice
