    Channa Green Peas Pulao Recipe | ChickPeas Matar Pulao

    Channa Green Peas Pulao Recipe | ChickPeas Matar Pulao with step by step photos .This is an easy protein rich one pot meal. The pulao is cooked with coconut milk and it gives a yummy taste to the dish. Goes well with Raita and any spicy kurma. Gets ready in just 30 mins. Perfect for a lunchbox. Now lets’ see how to preare channa green peas pulao.

    How to Prepare Channa Green Peas Pulao

         1.    Soak the basmati Rice in water for 30 mins and set aside. In a pressure Cooker add in oil once it heats up add the Fennel seeds ,Star anise ,Cinnamon Stick and Cloves once they leaves a nice aroma and add in the sliced onion and green chilli. Cook till they become glossy.     Step by step Method with pictures: 
    Step 1- chickpeas matar pulao

    2.    Next add in cleaned and chopped Mint leaves and Coriander Leaves saute for a while till the leaves shrink and then add in ginger garlic paste saute till the raw smell leaves. Next add in tomatoes.

    Step 2- chickpeas matar pulao

    3.    Now add the cooked green peas and channa .Mix well and then add the soaked basmati rice. Mix well and saute for 2 mins.

    Step 3- chickpeas matar pulao

    4.    Now add the Coconut Milk, Water, Salt and Lemon Juice. Once it starts to boil close the cooker.

    Step 4- chickpeas matar pulao

    5.    Cook for 1 whistle and wait till the pressure gets released by itself and open the cooker. Fluff the rice slowly. Pulao is now ready to serve.

    Step 5- chickpeas matar pulao
    Serve with any Raita.

    Channa Green Peas Pulao

    Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

    Equipment

    • Pressure Cooker

    Ingredients

    • Onion – 2
    • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
    • Green Chilli – 2
    • Coriander leaves + Mint leaves – ½ cup
    • Tomato – 2 medium sized
    • Cooked Green Peas - ¼ cup
    • Cooked Channa – ¼ cup
    • Basmati Rice – 1 cup
    • Coconut Milk – 1 cup
    • Water – 1 ¼ cup
    • Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp

    To Temper:

    • Oil – 2 tbsp
    • Fennel Seeds – 1 tsp
    • Star Anise – 1
    • Cinnamon Stick – 1 inch piece
    • 4 Cloves

    Instructions 

    • Soak the basmati Rice in water for 30 mins and set aside. In a pressure Cooker add in oil once it heats up add the Fennel seeds ,Star anise ,Cinnamon Stick and Cloves once they leaves a nice aroma and add in the sliced onion and green chilli. Cook till they become glossy.

    • Now add the cooked green peas and channa .Mix well and then add the soaked basmati rice. Mix well and saute for 2 mins.
    • Now add the Coconut Milk, Water, Salt and Lemon Juice. Once it starts to boil close the cooker.
    • Cook for 1 whistle and wait till the pressure gets released by itself and open the cooker. Fluff the rice slowly. Pulao is now ready to serve.

    Notes

       Serve hot with Raita and Chips.
       Makes an excellent lunch box dish.
       You can also use frozen peas for this recipe.

      wow such a flavorful chickpea rice there sharmila , looks so delicious and they are making me hungry. I am a big fan of chickpea pulao .. You mild version with coconut milk sounds very interesting !! The preparation is so well explained !!

      Wow ! Your rice series is excellent , I am bookmarking all these as we look forward to a new rice recipe on Sundays ! I have made Channa pulao / Biryani , but never with coconut milk . The herbs and spices too vary . Super flavourful rice .

      I love to add chana in any recipe especially the rice recipes. They increase the nutritional value as well as the flavor of the dish. I would happily take it for afternoon lunch.

      Adding coconut milk to rice makes it all that more flavorful. I love adding chickpeas to pulao and not only does it make a great lunchbox meal but is ideal for Sunday lunches too.
