    Idli Upma Recipe | Leftover Idli Upma with Step by step photos. Idli upma is an easy recipe that can be made with leftover idli’s. It can be prepared in just 10 mins. It goes well with just coconut chutney and Tea.

        Step by step Method with pictures: 
        1.    Crumble the idli and keep it ready. Heat a pan with oil once it is hot add in mustard seeds let it splutter and then add in Urad dal, Channa dal, and Cashew nuts Roast till it turns golden brown.

    2.    Next add in Green Chilli,   Finely chopped Capsicum, and Curry leaves fry for a minute.

     3.    Now add in the chopped onions and salt saute till it becomes glossy.

      4.    Mix well and then add in the grated carrot cook for a minute.

    5.    Now add in the crumbled Idli and toss well. Cook for 2 mins and switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves.

    Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

    Ingredients

    • Idli – 4
    • Oil – 2 tsp
    • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
    • Urad Dal – 1 tsp
    • Channa Dal – 1 tsp
    • Cashew nuts – 6-8 nos
    • Capsicum chopped – 2 tbsp
    • Curry Leaves – 1 spring
    • Onion – 1
    • Green Chilli -2
    • Salt as needed
    • Carrot – 2 tbsp grated
    • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp to garnish

    Instructions 

    • Crumble the idli and keep it ready. Heat a pan with oil once it is hot add in mustard seeds let it splutter and then add in Urad dal, Channa dal, and Cashew nuts Roast till it turns golden brown.
    • Next add in Green Chilli, Finely chopped Capsicum, and Curry leaves fry for a minute.
    • Now add in the chopped onions and salt saute till it becomes glossy.
    • Mix well and then add in the grated carrot cook for a minute.
    • Now add in the crumbled Idli and toss well. Cook for 2 mins and switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves.

    Notes

    · You can also add turmeric powder which gives a yummy and lovely color.
    · Can be served for breakfast, snack, or even as a dinner.
    · Use a day old idli or refrigerated idli as it will be easy to crumble and be firm.
    · Serve hot with coconut chutney and ginger tea.
