    Potato Kurma | Aloo Kurma

    Potato Kurma |Aloo Kurma is one easy Kurma that can be prepared easily in less time but tastes so good .It goes well with Roti ,Puri, Idli, Dosa or any Pulav.

    Potato kurma Recipe
     Method:
         1.      Soak Poppy seeds in water for about 10 mins and then in a blender grind the poppy seeds and Coconut into a paste by adding little water.
        2.      In a cooker base add in oil, once it heats up add in the ingredients mentioned in the “To Temper” table one by one once it emits a nice flavour .Next add in the chopped onions and fry till golden brown.
        3.      Next add in the ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell leaves and then add in the chopped tomatoes. Once its nicely cooked add all the spic powders and salt.
        4.      Mix everything well and cook for a minute and next add in the ground coconut poppy seeds paste and mix well such that it is evenly cooked
        5.      Add in the chopped potato and mix well and then add in the necessary water and once it comes to a boil close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 2 whistles. Once the pressure leaves completely by itself open the cooker  and garnish with coriander leaves .Serve with hot Roti or Dosa.
     
    Notes:
     
    • If you have no access to Poppy seeds in your place you can replace it with about 8 cashew nuts.
    • Pairs well with Ghee Rice , any pulao, Idli ,Dosa and biryani.

    Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

    Ingredients

    • Potato – 2 medium sized
    • Onion – 1
    • Tomato – 2 small
    • Ginger garlic paste –1 tbsp
    • Chilli powder – ½ tsp
    • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
    • Pepper powder - ½ tsp
    • Garam Masala – 1 tsp
    • Salt as needed
    • Water as needed
    • Coriander leaves to garnish

    To Grind:

    • Poppy seeds – 2 tbsp

    To Temper :

    • Oil – 1 tbsp

    • Cloves – 3
    • Cardamom – 2
    • Cinnamon Stick – 1 inch
