Soak dates in hot water for about 15 mins and then once it becomes soft grind it to form a fine puree and set it aside.
Meanwhile in a sauce pan boil milk, once it comes to a boil simmer the flame and let it continue to boil for another 15 mins. So that the milk becomes lightly thick and start to become a light brown colour at this stage add in the dates puree and mix well.
I reserved few dates to garnish as well. Chop the dates and nuts (I used Cashews and Almonds) in to very small pieces and fry them in ghee .Now add the ghee roasted nuts along with Cardamom powder to kheer give a good mix and switch off the flame.
Notes
· I made the kheer sugar free as my dates were really sweet.
If you feel sweetness is less you can add sugar or condensed milk as per your preference.
· You can also seeded dates.
· Tastes great as an after meal dessert.
