Clean and soak the Rice and Dal in Water. Heat the 3 ½ cups of water to cook the rice and keep it ready.
In a pressure cooker add in the Ghee to this add Mustard Seeds, Cumin seeds let them splutter and then add Hing,Dry Red Chilli, Curry Leaves Sauté and then add in the onions. Mix well and add salt cook till the onions becomes glossy.
Next add the tomatoes and cook till they are mashed well .Now add in the Sambar powder and Turmeric powder. Mix well.
Next add in the 3 ½ cups of hot water and the soaked rice and dal.Mix well. Check for salt and spice and pressure cook in a medium flame for 3 whistles. Wait till the pressure gets released on its own and then open the cooker. Serve hot with ghee.

· Tastes best with just pickle and papad.
· Tastes best when served hot by topping it with ghee.
