Onion Uttapam | Vengaya Uttapam

Onion Uthappam is a south Indian Style breakfast prepared with Idli Dosa batter. It goes well with chutney and sambar.

Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Idli / Dosa batter finely chopped
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ghee or Oil
  • Salt as needed

Instructions 

  • Keep Dosa Batter ready. Heat dosa tawa. Once its hot , take a ladle full of batter and pour on the pan like a thick dosa. Do not spread much.
  • Sprinkle finely chopped onions on top of the uthappam. Also sprinkle few finely chopped coriander leaves. Drizzle in oil or ghee over the edges of uthappam.
  • Flip the uthappam and other side for few secs till it is cooked.
  • Now the uthappam is ready and serve hot.

Notes

Goes well with chutney ,Sambar and Filter coffee.
Goes well as a breakfast or snack
We can alter or show variation to the topping of uthappam as we prefer.
Add green chili if you prefer a spicier version. Even a simple tadka can be added.
