In a pressure cooker add in the masoor dal, Wash well and then add in chopped onions, tomatoes and peel Garlic pods.
Close the cooker and pressure for 4 whistles in a medium flame. Wait till the pressure subsides naturally and then open the cooker. Mash the dal after opening the cooker with a ladle.
To this add in the Salt, Chilli powder and turmeric powder.
Mix well and add the required water and bring it to the right consistency now allow this to cook till the dal comes to a boil and switch off the flame.
Heat a tadka pan with ghee to this add in Cumin seeds,Hing and Bay leaf.
Add crushed ginger, Garam Masala and Curry leaves .Now pour this to the prepared Dal. Serve hot
Notes
· Goes well with Rice or Roti.
· You can replace ghee with any cooking oil but with ghee it tastes more flavourful.
