In a pan add in chicken and water and then ½ tsp salt and allow it to cook. Cook till its ¾ th done and then switch off the flame.
Separate the Chicken and then water. Keep the Chicken water (stock) aside (you can use it for preparing chicken soup). In another mixing bowl add in the Red Chilli powder, Garam Masala, Turmeric powder, Salt, Cumin powder and Ginger garlic paste.
Next add in the Curd, lemon juice and mix well. Make it a paste. To this add in the chicken pieces and mix well. Leave the marinade aside for 1 hour to 8 hours. Heat a tawa with oil and add in the marinated chicken pieces and cook in a medium low flame.
The chicken would be done in 10 mins as we have already cooked the chicken to 75 %Turn the sides and cook till the chicken is cooked clean and crisp.
Once done switch off the flame. For the Smokey flavour. Show the chicken in the direct flame for few secs and then set it aside.
