Chettinad Style DrumStick Leaves Peanuts Stir Fry

  • Drumstick Leaves – 1 cup tightly packed
  • Roasted Peanuts – 3 tbsp
  • Raw Rice – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Onion – 1
  • Salt as needed
  • Freshly grated Coconut – 3 tbsp

To Temper:

  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds -1 tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli – 4


  • In a Pan dry roast the raw rice until it is crisp. In a blender add the roasted raw rice and roasted peanuts and pulse it twice or thrice just to break and not to grind it and set it aside.
  • In the same pan now add in the Oil once it becomes hot add in Cumin Seeds and Dry Red Chilli fry it turns dark and then add in the chopped onions.
  • Cook till the onions turn translucent and then add in the Salt and turmeric powder mix well and fry for a min now finally add in the washed and cleaned drumstick leaves.
  • Mix well and sauté well. The leaves gets cooked within 5 mins and no need to add any water .Cook in a low flame. Keep sautéing once it is fully cooked add in the Rice and Peanut Powder.
  • Mix well and cook for few mins and then sprinkle in the freshly grated coconut and mix well and switch off the flame. Tasty Drumsticks Leaves Peanuts stir fry is ready now.


  •  Serve with Sambar and Potato Fry.
  •  You can skip Coconut if you don’t prefer.
  •  There might be a slight bitterness in the leaves adding the Rice peanuts powder and coconut helps to remove it.
  •  Feel free to add more coconut and peanut powder if you prefer.
