Garlic Rice

Garlic Rice is a yummy garlic flavored variety rice. It is a perfect lunch box dish.

Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients

  • Oil -2 tsp
  • Mustard – ½ tsp
  • Urad Dal – 1 tsp
  • Channa Dal – 1 tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli – 3
  • Roasted Peanuts – 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves a spring
  • Garlic- 12 pods chopped
  • Onion – 1 thinly sliced
  • Red Chilli powder – ¾ to 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Salt as needed
  • Cooked Rice – 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

Instructions 

  • Heat a pan with oil once its hot add in the mustard seeds. Let it splutter. Next add in the Urad Dal and Channa Dal.
  • Saute till it is golden. Next add in the Dry Red Chilli and roasted peanuts. Saute for few secs and then add in the Curry leaves.
  • Saute and then add in the chopped garlic pods. Saute til it turn slightly golden.
  • Next add in the thinly sliced onions. Cook till it turns glossy. Then add in the red chilli powder, Garam Masala, Turmeric powder and the required Salt.
  • Mix well and cook till the raw smell of the masala leaves and then add in the cooked and cooled Rice. Give a good mix and cook for 2 mins in a low flame.
  • Finally garnish with coriander leaves and switch off.

Notes

  • Serve with yogurt and any thogayal.
  • You can add more garlic if you like the flavour.
  • Basmati Rice can also be added.
