Panangkizhangu | Palm sprouts

Panangkizhangu or Palm sprouts are generally popular in south tamil nadu in the summer season. It is generally served with PalmSugar Coffee.

Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients

  • Panag kizhangu / Palm Sprouts - 10
  • Salt as needed
  • Water as needed

Instructions 

  • Peel and remove the skin of the Palm sprouts. You can cut into smaller pieces as per your wish.
  • In a pressure cooker add in water along with salt and the required water and add the Palm sprouts, Cook for 4 whistles in a medium flame and it should be done.

Notes

  • Remove the head portion and then inner thin part ,this will help in the longer shelf life of palm sprouts.
  • It is rich in fibre.
  • Alternatively, it can be cooked in open pot also with excess water.
