Hamantash Cookies

Hamantash Cookie is a Jewish cookie that is triangular n shape and has a filling in the center. The cookie is circular one and it is folded to achieve a triangular shape.

Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients

  • Soft unsalted Butter – ½ cup
  • Sugar – ¼ cup
  • All-purpose flour – 1 cup
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
  • Lemon zest – 1 tsp
  • Any Fruit Jam for filling – as needed

Instructions 

  • In a mixing bowl add in powdered Sugar and soft unsalted butter. Cream together and mix well.
  • Add-in Vanilla essence and Lemon zest mix well.
  • Now add in all-purpose flour, bring the dough together to form a soft dough. Cling wrap and put in the fridge for 30 mins.
  • Dust the working surface with flour and spread using a rolling pin. Using a cookie cutter cut into circles.
  • Now spoon the filling and fold the cookies. Make sure it is sealed well on all sides. Preheat the oven at 180C for 10 mins and bake for 12-15 mins are until the cookies become golden.

Notes

Traditionally the cookies use a filling with Poppy seeds and nuts.
But I have used Jam. Use a small quantity and make sure the edges are sealed properly otherwise the filling might fudge out.
