Onion Uttapam | Vengaya Uttapam

Onion Uttapam is an Indian Style Breakfast made with Dosa Batter. Finely chopped onions are added to the Dosa and make it absolutely divine.

Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients

  • Idli / Dosa batter – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1
  • Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Salt as needed

Instructions 

  • In a mixing bowl add in finely chopped onion and Coriander leaves and then add in the required salt.
  • Mix everything together for even mixing of Salt. Heat a dosa a tawa , Once it is hot take a ladle full of batter and pour on the tawa ,do not spread.
  • Give a generous sprinkle of onion and coriander mix. Drizzle in oil on the top and sides of the uthappam, cover and cook .
  • Flip and cook on the other side for few secs till it is done and serve hot.

Notes

· Goes well with chutney ,Sambar and Filter coffee.
· Usually served for breakfast.
· Many variations can be made in the toppings. Green chilli can be added. Even a simple tadka can be added.
