Veg Manchurian Gravy

Veg Manchurian Gravy is an Indo Chinese dish and usually made as a semi gravy. It is paired with Noodles or Fried Rice.

Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour – ½ cup
  • Corn Flour – 2 tbsp
  • Pepper Powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt as needed
  • Water to sprinkle and knead the dough
  • Carrot – ¼ cup
  • Beans – ¼ cup
  • Cabbage – ¼ cup
  • Oil – For deep frying

For the Gravy:

  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Onion – 1
  • Garlic pods – 5
  • Chilli Sauce – 3 tbsp
  • Soy Sauce – 2 tbsp
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Corn Flour – 1 tbsp
  • Spring Onion – 3 tbsp
  • Salt a pinch

Instructions 

  • In a mixing bowl add in the All-purpose flour, Corn flour, Pepper powder and Salt, mix once and then add in the carrot , beans and cabbage.
  • Mix everything together. Now sprinkle and add water little by little to form a soft dough. Divide them into equal sized balls.
  • Heat oil for deep frying, Fry the vegetable balls in a medium flame until its golden and fully cooked. Drain them from oil and set aside.
  • For preparing the gravy heat another pan with oil .
  • Add in finely chopped onion and garlic, saute for few secs and then add in the Soy sauce and Chilli Sauce. Mix well.
  • Dissolve the corn flour in water and then add the water to the gravy. Cook for few mins once the gravy starts to become thick. Add in the deep-fried Manchurian balls.
  • Cook for another 1 mins, Sprinkle the Spring onions and switch off the flame.

Notes

· The gravy tends to get thick very soon, so serve it hot.
· Goes well with Fried Rice, noodles.
· Cook the gravy in a high flame, Also ½ tsp of sugar can be used.
· I used Red Chilli sauce for the recipe as the colour and taste would be good.
· You can also use 1 tsp of tomato sauce in the gravy if you prefer the sweetness.
· Carefully add the salt as the sauce already has salt in it.
