Homecooked snacks are something I always love to make especially on weekends. Kids love this version plus I have the satisfaction of avoiding some junk. Tried this super yummy resto style crispy corn fries and they are just perfect. The air fryer version makes them simply guilt-free.

Why you will love this recipe

    • Easy under 30 min snack
    • Guilt-free snack, no deep frying
    • Vegan and Vegetarian snacks.
    • For the gluten-free version, you can add chickpea or rice flour instead of APF.

    Ingredients

Baby corn - Use fresh and tender baby corn.

Bread crumbs - Use panko bread crumbs rather than regular bread crumbs. They give a lovely texture to the fries.

Flour - We use a combination of APF and Corn Flour. The flour binds the spice powders and bread crumbs and helps everything to be intact.

Sauce - Soy Sauce, Sriracha Sauce, and Tomato Sauce is used. It gives a light sweet taste.

Oil - Use any cooking oil you prefer.

    FAQ's

    Is Baby Corn Fry Vegan?

Except for the bread crumb, everything is naturally vegan. Use vegan breadcrumbs for a full vegan fry.

Can I cook on a stovetop?

If you do not have an air fryer you can definitely make it on the stovetop. For stove top version deep fry the breaded corn in hot oil until crisp and golden on a medium flame.

How to make Baby Corn Fries

In a saucepan add water and baby corn and let it cook for 3 mins. After 3 mins switch off and drain the baby corn. Wipe them dry with a kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.

Slice the baby corn into two lengthwise.

In a mixing bowl add all-purpose flour, Corn flour, Tomato sauce, Soy Sauce, and Sriracha Sauce.

Also add garlic powder, red chili flakes, Pepper powder, and the required salt.

Combine everything. Now add water and bring it to a thick slurry.

Dip the sliced baby corn into the prepared slurry.

Next spread the panko breadcrumbs in a bowl and dip the baby corn into the breadcrumbs. Press gently and let the breadcrumbs coat over the baby corn.

Repeat for all the baby corn and let them freeze for 15 mins.

Preheat the air fryer to 200 C / 400 F for 5 mins. Brush or spray oil on the air fryer basket. Arrange the baby corn on the basket. Spray in some oil.

Airfry at 180 C / 356 F for 12 mins. After 6 mins make sure you flip them and brush or spray some oil.

Airfryer baby corn fries are now ready.

    Top Tips

    • Boiling the baby corn at first and then sliting them helps in cooking the baby corn real quick.
    • Always leave space between the baby corn when placing them in the air fryer basket.
    • Freezing the baby corn before air frying helps the breadcrumb stick over well.
    • Using panko breadcrumbs gives a beautiful texture to the baby corn.
    • Goes well with any dipping sauce or ketchup.
    • Always dab the oil over the baby corn. Pressing it hard will remove the bread coating over the corn.

    Serving Suggestions

Goes well as an appetizer or as a snack. You can serve it with any dipping sauce, ketchup or mayonnaise.
