How to make Avarakkai Poriyal
2. Slice the broad beans lengthwise and keep it ready. Once the onions are cooked add in the broad beans.
3. Saute for few mins in a low flame and then add in the turmeric powder, Chilli powder and required Salt.
4. Finally add in the Cumin seeds powder if using and mix well. Cook for a mins and then add n the water.
5. Mix well and then cover cook in a low flame until the broad beans in fully cooked.
6. Finally garnish with grated coconut and switch off the flame. Mix well and serve hot with Rice.

Broad Beans Stir Fry
Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients
- ¼ kg Broad Beans / Avarakai
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Urad Dal
- 1 sprig Curry Leaves
- 1 Onion
- ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- ½ tsp Cumin Powder Optional
- Salt as needed
- 3 tbsp Water
- ⅓ cup Grated Coconut
Instructions
- Heat a pan with oil, once its hot add in the mustard seeds let it splutter, and then add in the Cumin seeds, Urad Dal, Next add in the curry leaves, and then onion. Saute till the onions turn glossy.
- Slice the broad beans lengthwise and keep it ready. Once the onions are cooked add in the broad beans.
- Saute for few mins at a low flame and then add in the turmeric powder, Chilli powder, and required salt.
- Finally add in the Cumin seeds powder if using and mix well. Cook for a min and then add n the water.
- Mix well and then cover cook at a low flame until the broad beans are fully cooked.
- Finally garnish with grated coconut and switch off the flame. Mix well and serve hot with Rice.
- Notes:
Notes
· Don’t reduce the coconut as it gives a nice flavor to the dish.
· Make sure you don’t burn as we add less water and cooking.
