    Avarakkai is one vegetable that can be cooked so easily and is really healthy. It tastes really delicious when cooked with coconut. It goes well with Rice and Roti. Now lets see how to prepare Avarakkai Poriyal in home.

    Broad Beans Stir Fry Recipe

    How to make Avarakkai Poriyal

       1.    Heat a pan with oil, once its hot add in the mustard seeds let it splutter and then add in the Cumin seeds ,Urad Dal, Next add in the curry leaves and then onion .Saute till the onions turn glossy.

     2.    Slice the broad beans lengthwise and keep it ready. Once the onions are cooked add in the broad beans.

      3.    Saute for few mins in a low flame and then add in the turmeric powder, Chilli   powder and required Salt.

     4.    Finally add in the Cumin seeds powder if using and mix well. Cook for a mins and then add n the water.

     5.    Mix well and then cover cook in a low flame until the broad beans in fully cooked.

     6.    Finally garnish with grated coconut and switch off the flame. Mix well and serve hot with Rice.

    Serve hot with Rice or Roti.

    Equipment

    • Pan or Kadai
    • Pan or Kadai

    Ingredients

    • ¼ kg Broad Beans / Avarakai
    • 1 tbsp Oil
    • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
    • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
    • 1 tsp Urad Dal
    • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
    • 1 Onion
    • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
    • 1 tsp Chilli powder
    • ½ tsp Cumin Powder Optional
    • Salt as needed
    • 3 tbsp Water
    • ⅓ cup Grated Coconut

    • Notes:

    Notes

    · Serve hot, with Rice and Sambar.
    · Don’t reduce the coconut as it gives a nice flavor to the dish.
    · Make sure you don’t burn as we add less water and cooking.
