    Chicken Kothu Kari | Road Side Shop style Shredded Chicken

    Chicken Kothu Kari | Road Side Shop style Shredded Chicken with step by step pictures .Road side shop foods always brings in the best flavour. This shredded chicken is one such recipe we normally get this in the local parotta shop. No star hotel recipe can match this taste. So when I was searching for the recipe I found it from my friend , It tastes super yummy and it is a winner .So do try it out.

    Chicken Kothu Kari | Road Side Shop style Shredded Chicken

    Chicken Kothu Kari

    Recipe Cuisine: Indian |  Recipe Category : Appetizer
    Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time : 25 mins |Serves: 2 |Author :Sharmila Kingsly
    Ingredients: 

    To Grind:
    Onion – 1
    Tomato -1
    Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
    Chilli powder – 1 tsp
    Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
    Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
    Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
    Pepper Powder – 1 tsp
    Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp
    Fennel Seeds – 1 tsp          
    Other Ingredients :
    Chicken – ½ kg or 500 gms
    Oil – 2 tbsp
    Curry Leaves a spring
    Green Chilli – 2
    Fennel Seeds – 1 tsp
    Onion – 2
    Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
    Tomato – 2
    Salt as needed
    Chilli powder – 1 tsp
    Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
    Garam Masala – ½ tsp
    Roasted Gram Dal powder – 3 tbsp
    Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
    Coriander leaves to garnish
         Method: 
        1.    In a blender add in the ingredients mentioned under “To Grind” section without adding water.
         2.    Clean the chicken and take them in a pressure cooker, to this add in the ground masala paste and ¼ cup water and mix well with the chicken.
          3.    Pressure cook for 5 whistles and wait till the pressure subsides and then open then cooker, separate the flesh from the chicken and the bones and set aside. Collect the remaining masala from the pressure cooker and set aside.
          4.    In a pan add in oil once the oil heats up add Fennel seeds ,Green Chilli and Curry Leaves
         5.    Add in the onion and cook till the onions turn translucent .Next add in ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell leaves and finally add in the tomato cook till it turns mushy.
        6.    Now add in the remaining spice powders .Red chilli powder, Garam Masala, Turmeric Powder and Mix well. Also add the collected masala from the pressure cooker .Cook in a low flame for 5 mins and then add in the shredded chicken.
         7.    Give a good mix and allow it to cook in a low flame for 10 mins. Add little water if it is too dry .Now add in the roasted gram dal powder mix well and then add in the lemon juice.
           8.    Mix well and switch off the flame. Finally garnish with Coriander leaves.
      Notes:
          ·       Serve hot with Rice, Roti, idly or Dosa.
          ·       Don’t skip add the roasted gram dal powder.
        Step by step Method with pictures:

    This is how I served my kothu kari along with Vegetable biriyani and Onion tomato Raita.
