    Little Millet Kheer with Jaggery

    Little Millet Kheer | Samai Paruppu Payasam
    Little Millet Kheer | Samai Paruppu Payasam with step by step pictures. Any festival is incomplete without a kheer and these days it’s a healthy tradition to include millets in all our foods. So why no try a healthy and yummy kheer with millets. This little millet kheer tastes extremely delicious and tasted similar to the Moong Dal kheer, its perfect to enjoy as an after-meal dessert after a heavy meal. Now let's see how to prepare little millet kheer.

       Step by step Method with pictures:
        1.Soak the Moong dal and channa dal in water of 3o mins. In a pressure cooker add in the little millets along with moong dal and channa dal and add ½ cup of water Pressure cook for 3 whistles in a low flame.

    2.Wait till the peruse gets released on its own and then open the cooker. In a pan add the jaggery and half cup of water. Cook till the jaggery is dissolved. Strain and cook till the jaggery water get lightly thick. Now add this jaggery water to the cooked millet and dal. Mix well.

    3.Heat the pan and to this add in the think coconut milk and mix well without any lumps. Add in the cardamom powder or the whole cardamom. Once the kheer gets thicker add in the thick coconut milk and mix well and then switch off the flame.

      4.Heat another pan with ghee and then add in the cashew nuts and raisin and let them get golden brown remove them from the flame and add it to the kheer along with the ghee.

      5.Mix well and Little millet Kheer is now ready to be served.

    Serve as an after meal dessert.

    Little Millet Kheer with Jaggery

    Samai Paruppu Payasam is a yummy kheer prepare with Millets and lentils. It tastes like the traditional lentil kheer.

    Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

    Ingredients

    • ¼ cup Little Millet / Samai
    • 2 tbsp Moong Dal
    • 2 tbsp Channa Dal
    • ½ cup Jaggery
    • 1 cup Water divided
    • ½ cup Thin Coconut milk
    • ½ cup Thick Coconut milk
    • ½ tsp Cardamom
    • 2 tsp Ghee
    • 8 Cashew nuts
    • 10 Raisins

    Instructions

    Notes

    Serve hot as an after-meal dessert.
    You can replace the channa dal with moong dal fully.
    Make sure you don't overcook after adding the thick coconut milk.

      Coconut milk adds so much richness to the kheer. And using millet along with dals would make it extremely nutritious and yum.

      This is so nice. Amazing kheer with millets and coconut milk. Love it. Between I have similar spoon too sharmi. Not sure where you got it but mine is from Amazon online.
