Pongal Recipes
Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu in the Tamil month of Thai. The festival marks the end of winter and the start of summer according to tradition.
To celebrate the harvest festival, we prepare a special dish called as Pongal after which the festival is names. Pongal means to boil and overflow. Traditionally Pongal is celebrated on the first day of thai. In a new pot with new rice, we prepare Pongal to thank the sun god for the good harvest.
