Seer Fish Fry Recipe | Vanjaram Meen Varuval | King Fish Fry with step by step pictures. Vanjaram is one of the most popular and consumed sea food in south India. Unlike most other fishes ,vanjaram has a single center bone. It is easy to eat and its tasty which makes it popular. It is also called as the King of Fishes. Now lets see how to make a tasty fish fry using Seer / King Fish.
How to make Vanjaram Fish Fry
1. In a mixing bowl add Chilli powder, Turmeric powder, Pepper powder and salt.
2. Mix everything together by adding little water or oil.
3. Add cleaned fish pieces to the masala and combine. The the masala evenly marinate over the fish.
4. If you prefer add crushed garlic and curry leaves. Now let it marinate for 30 mins.
5.Heat a pan or tawa with oil, once its hot add the marinated fish pieces and the curry leaves.
6. Flip and cook on both the sides till the fish is fully cooked and golden brown. Once cooked remove from tawa and keep in paper towel for absorbing the excess oil. Serve hot.
Serving Options
Goes well with Fish Curry and Steamed Rice.

Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

Ingredients
- 12 slices Vanjaram Meen / Seer Fish
- 1 tbsp Chilli powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Pepper Powder
- Salt as needed
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- Coconut Oil for Shallow fry
- 2 sprigs Curry Leaves
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl add Chilli powder, Turmeric powder, Pepper powder and salt.
- Mix everything together by adding little water or oil.
- Add cleaned fish pieces to the masala and combine. The the masala evenly marinate over the fish.
- If you prefer add crushed garlic and curry leaves. Now let it marinate for 30 mins.
- Heat a pan or tawa with oil, once its hot add the marinated fish pieces and the curry leaves.
- Flip and cook on both the sides till the fish is fully cooked and golden brown. Once cooked remove from tawa and keep in paper towel for absorbing the excess oil. Serve hot.
Notes
- Use fresh pieces for better taste.
- Never miss coconut oil and curry leaves in a fish fry for a better taste.
- Cook in a medium low flame.
