    Easy and guilt-free fish sticks made with an air fryer are definitely a yummy snack. It takes not more than 30 mins to do from the scratch. This is so much healthier than deep-fried snacks.

    Fish Sticks

    Traditionally fish sticks are made using whole fish fillets in the shape of sticks. It made everything from the scratch using canned fish. If you have fresh or frozen fish sticks you can definitely use that as a replacement for canned fish. If using canned fish drain the excess water completely and then use them.

    Ingredients

    Fish - Use fresh or frozen or canned fish as per your preference. The recipe works well for all.

    Egg - Helps in holding the shape and a perfect texture for the fingers.

    Flour - Helps in binding and keeping all the ingredients intact. Do not skip.

    Bread Crumbs - Use use them for the perfect crispy outer cover for the fish fingers. Use panko bread crumbs for the perfect texture.

    Spice Powders - The main flavoring ingredients for the fish fingers. Feel feel to customize them as per your preference.

    How to use frozen fish?

    If using frozen fish for making the fish fingers. Thaw them completely and then use them.
    How do I freeze the fish sticks?

    If you want to freeze them I suggest you freeze them before cooking. After the breading freeze them in a tray for 30 mins. Once they are firm remove them from the tray add in zip locks and freeze for up to 3 months. You can cook the frozen fish sticks directly in the air fryer. cooking frozen fish may need extra 2 or 3 mins.

    How to make Fish Fingers

    1.In a mixing bowl add the fish. I am using canned fish, so I drained the water and added it. 

    2. Next, add the spice powders and the required salt.

    3. Next, add ¼ cup of whole wheat flour.

    4. Combine everything and mix well.

    5. Pinch in small portions and shape the fish fingers. Make sure you shape all the fingers equally. You can keep a ¼ cup as the measurement and then shape the fish fingers.

    6. Break open an egg and beat well until fluffy. To this egg mixture dip in the shaped fish finger.

    7. Next roll the egg dipped fish finger with bread crumbs and set it aside. Repeat the same for all the fish fingers. Put it in the freezer for 15 mins. This helps the fingers to hold the shape well.

    8. Preheat the air fryer for 5 mins. Now place the fish fingers in the air fryer baskets and brush or spray in little oil.

    9. Set 400 F (200 deg C) and cook for 12 mins. Flip the fingers halfway and cook.

    Perfectly crispy fish fingers are ready. Serve hot with a drizzle of lemon juice and your favorite dipping sauce.

    Serving Suggestions

    Fish sticks go well with a simple tomato ketchup or mayonnaise. You can also mix mayo with some sriracha sauce and serve.

    Storing Options

    If you want to freeze them I suggest you freeze them before cooking. After the breading freeze them in a tray for 30 mins. Once they are firm remove them from the tray add in zip locks and freeze them for up to 3 months

    Ingredients

    • ½ pound fish approx 200 gms
    • ½ tsp Pepper powder
    • ½ tsp Garlic powder
    • ½ tsp Onion powder
    • ½ tsp Paprika powder
    • ½ tsp Oregano
    • ½ tsp Salt
    • ¼ cup Wheat flour
    • 1 Egg
    • 1 cup Bread crumbs preferably panko
    • 1 tsp Cooking oil for brushing the fish fingers
