    Panangkizhangu | How to cook Palm Sprouts

    Panangkizhangu | How to cook Palm Sprouts with step by step pictures. Palm sprouts are generally popular in south tamil nadu in the summer season. In my native it is generally served with Palm Jaggery Coffee. It is indeed a healthy snack and it has so many health benefits.

    Now lets see how to prepare Palm Sprouts.

        Step by step Method with pictures: 
         1.    Peel and remove the skin of the Palm sprouts. You can cut into smaller pieces as per your wish.  

    2.    In a pressure cooker add in water along with salt and the required water and add the Palm sprouts, Cook for 4 whistles in a medium flame and it should be done.

    A healthy snack is ready for your evenings.

    Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

    Ingredients

    • 10 Panag kizhangu / Palm Sprouts
    • Salt as needed
    • Water as needed

    Instructions 

    • Peel and remove the skin of the Palm sprouts. You can cut into smaller pieces as per your wish.
    • In a pressure cooker add in water along with salt and the required water and add the Palm sprouts, Cook for 4 whistles in a medium flame and it should be done.

    Notes

    • Remove the head portion and then inner thin part ,this will help in the longer shelf life of palm sprouts.
    • It is rich in fibre.
    • Alternatively, it can be cooked in open pot also with excess water.

      I think I might have eaten it when I was a kid, at my grandmother's home. Spread far and wide, we tend to forget traditional, guilt free snacks like these.
