    Baby Fig Stir Fry | Athikai Poriyal | Anjeer Stir Fry with step by step pictures. Baby fig is very healthy and packed with Vitamins and Minerals. Its is really good for diabetes and blood pressure. I got this recipe from my colleague’s mom. I tried it immediately and enjoyed this poriyal. Now lets see how to prepare Athikai poriyal.

     Step by step Method with pictures: 

       1.    Take the baby fig in a vessel and remove the dirt and the extra stem portions. Wash the baby fig for 3 or 4 times.

     2.    In a pressure cooker take the washed fig and add in the water and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Wait till the steam gets realized on its own and then open the cooker. Wash the cooked fig once again.

     3.    Next mashed the cooked fig completely and set aside. Heat a pan with oil once its hot add in the mustard seeds and cumin seeds let them splutter and then add in the green chilli and curry leaves. Next add in the onion and cook till glossy. Next add in the Turmeric powder, Chilli powder, Coriander powder and the required Salt.

     4.    Mix everything together and cook for few secs and then add in the cooked and mashed baby fig. Mix well such that the masala is well blended with the cooked fig. Cook for 2 mins.

    5.    In a blender add in the coconut and dry red chilli and blend. Add this to the cooked fig. Mix well and cook for a min and then switch off the flame.
    Enjoy this healthy poriyal with some hot rice.

    Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups Baby fig / Athikai
    • 2 tsp Oil
    • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
    • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
    • 1 Green Chilli
    • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
    • 1 Onion
    • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
    • 1 tsp Chilli powder
    • 1 tsp Coriander powder
    • Salt as needed

    To Grind:

    • ½ cup Coconut
    • 3 Dry Red Chilli

    Notes

    • Serve with rice.
    • Make sure you wash the baby fig well before you cook.
