Chicken Breast - Use juicy and fresh boneless skinless chicken pieces. Use equally sized pieces and hence the cooking time is same and perfect.
Oil - Oil helps in crisping the chicken also it keeps the spice powders intact over the chicken.
Spice Powders - I am using Paprika, Cumin , Onion and Garlic powder. Feel free to customize as per your preference. For an additional taste I am also using a hint of red pepper flakes.
Salt & Pepper - as needed for taste.
How to use Air Fryer Chicken
When you have some air fried chicken it comes handy and we can enjoy them in a variety of dishes.
Sandwich - You can add them to your bread to make some delicious chicken sandwich.
Wraps & Rolls - Chicken wraps and rolls makes a complete pick me up meal. We can pack them in lunch box or you can also have them as a quick travel meal.
Pasta - You can toss the chicken in any sauce and make some quick Chicken Pasta.
Salad - Add all your favorite ingredients along with a kick ass dressing and chicken to make chicken salad. You can also try my tandoori chicken salad. Cooked chicken breast can be used instead of tandoori chicken.
Pizza - Use as a topping to jazz up your favorite pizza.
The cooking time slightly varies based on the size of chicken breasts.
Small sized (6 -7 oz) It takes 6- 7 mins
Medium sized(8-9 oz) , it takes 8 -10 mins
Large sized ( 10oz or more) , it takes 12- 14 mins
Make sure to preheat the air fryer always always before cooking.
Traditionally chicken breast are put into brining before cooking. It is the process of salting chicken and resting it for some time prior to cooking. It actually softens the meat making them tender and juicy.
Air fryer method cooks well even without brining . But you can still brine chicken if you prefer.
How to make air fryer Chicken Breasts
In a mixing bowl add cleaned chicken breasts. Add oil and pat gently on both the sides.
In a mixing bowl add all the spice powders and seasonings.
Add the spice powders throughout the chicken breast. Make sure its evenly applied all over.
Put the chicken in fridge for 10 mins. Meanwhile preheat the air fryer at 200 C / 400 F for 5 mins. Once done. Transfer the chicken breast in air fryer basket. Brush little oil over the chicken.
Air fry at 180 C /356 F for 8 mins. Make sure you flip halfway (after 4 mins) . Juicy delicious chicken breasts in air fryer is now ready.
Tips & Variations
If using frozen chicken breast make sure you defrost them before cooking. I usually remove from the freezer and keep in the fridge section. And before cooking I leave in room temperature for 1 hours. It comes out perfect.
To check if the chicken is cooked you can also use an instant read thermometer and check if the temperature reads 165 F.
Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket for the chicken to cook evenly. also make sure we use even sized chicken breasts.
Always flip the chicken halfway to ensure even cooking.
This healthy air fryer chicken breasts is perfect for the low carb or Keto meal.
Store the chicken breasts in fridge for up to 3 days. You can freeze them in zip locks up to 2 months.
While using reheat them in microwave for 20-30 secs or in an air fryer for 2 mins.
